Description
This unique statue from the Veronese collection depicts St. Anthony of Padua with the child Jesus in his arms. St. Anthony is made in cold-cast bronze and lightly hand painted. Dressed in traditional Franciscan robes, he holds a book and lilies to represent purity in his other hand. The words on the book read: “Love is patient; love is kind; Love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things.” Statue measures 10.5 inches tall.
