Description

Brigid was born in Ireland around the year 450. Her father was a nobleman and her mother was a slave. Though she and her mother were rejected by her father, Brigid was inspired to faith by the teachings of St. Patrick. She founded several convents and even a school of art that specialized in decorative Irish manuscripts! It is said that when Brigid passed, her nuns kept a fire lit for centuries. It is tradition in Ireland to create small woven crosses each spring. They are called Brigid?s cross!
